Imagine
a World Without America by
Jan
Markell
In this season of thanks I want to say that for those of us living within the
borders of America, thank God for this great country. For that matter, the world
should thank God for America. It is fresh on my mind after talking on air this
weekend to Annie Jacobsen, author of the book, "Terror in the Skies: Why
9/11 Could Happen Again." And while the title sounds ominous, the point it,
a 9/11 has NOT happened again though "dry run rehearsals" are taking
place reguarly.
Jacobsen related her harrowing first-hand account of her flight from Detroit to
L.A. It included fourteen highly suspicious men, some of whom wore clothing with
Arabic writing. One had an orthopedic shoe and new rules do not allow orthopedic
shoes to be removed or tampered with (but your sandles can be) even in the
Richard Reid generation, the now-famous shoe bomber who was caught as he was
about to light a bomb in his shoe. Others were carrying instrument cases that
were not inspected. Jacobsen's husband, a seasoned world traveler, was tempted
to fake a heart attack to get the plane down but then chose not to. Annie is
hardly a sensationalist. She is a writer for "Women's Wall Street
Journal" on-line and nearly 50 million people read about her story in the
summer of 2004 as it spread around the world.
The fourteen Syrians were apparently carrying out a common "dry run"
or "surveillance" flight exactly as Mohammed Atta did before 9/11. The
men had not been inspected before getting on the plane. They were given liberty
to do just about anything on the plane and they continually signalled to one
another for four and one half hours. They spent extended time in the rest rooms
and some on board knew that this had happened previously as those perpetrating
the "dry run" also practiced bomb-making in the restrooms. They stood
in the crowded aisle rather than stay seated.
The flight attendants were aware of all and tried to comfort many women on the
plane who were literally in tears. Federal Air Marshalls were also on board but
their orders are to sit in first class and literally stare at the cockpit door.
They made no gestures and gave no warnings to the fourteen men who clearly had
evil intent. The men even stood when the plane was landing rather than being
strapped in their seats. As the plane landed, one of them ran his finger over
his throat and mouthed the words "no" to the other thirteen.
Agencies had been contacted by the pilot and the men were greeted by a
half-dozen federal agencies but were dismissed when the Syrians said they were a
musical back-up team for a prominent Arab entertainer. It would be learned that
their visas had expired, yet nothing was done. None of the federal agencies
would acknowledge that this was a "dry run." The case was dismissed.
Jacobsen has since interviewed dozens of flight attendants, pilots, air
marshals, FBI agents, government officials, and ordinary passengers. And like
others before her such as Bill Gertz and Michele Malkin, her book and interview
reveals federal bureaucracies paralyzed by political correctness or
incompetence. When I asked her the bottom line problem she said it is the fact
that security agencies do not communicate with each other. She did learn that
"surveillance flights" were taking place regularly, but the
perpetrators are given more respect and "rights" than the traveling
public. Our government agencies in her opinion are not keeping tabs on visitors
from states that sponsor terrorism such as Syria nor is it holding them
accountable when they violate the terms of their visas.
Spence Publishing has allowed listeners to my radio program, "Understanding
the Times," to order the $25 book at half price. It is now posted on my
"radio archives" at www.olivetreeviews.org. Please be ethical and do
not just read this and then call 1-888-773-6782. Listen on line and then I
highly recommend this book which you can get for $12.50 plus shipping. You must
use my name and the name of the program, "Understanding the Times."
Listening to "archives" is simple even for dial-up users with some
newer technology we now use.
Yes, America is caving to political correctness and America to a certain degree
is broken. But God remains patient with us and is our Homeland Security
Director. How long will His Hand be upon America? Can you imagine a world
without America? We are not perfect and we have our deficiencies, but America
has always had a special call. In spite of her imperfections, this Thanksgiving
season I thank God He raised up this nation to be a banner to the world even
though evil-doers would love to bring us to our knees. They cannot without
permission from the Creator who allowed this nation to be founded not that many
years ago, and on Christian principles at that.
But it should be disturbing that most of our founders acknowledged God while
today there is an effort to remove God from every aspect of our society, even in
this 9/11 generation.
