Burning indignation

by Stan Goodenough

Behold, the name of the LORD comes from afar, burning with His anger, and His burden is heavy; His lips are full of indignation, and His tongue like a devouring fire. His breath is like an overflowing stream, which reaches up to the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve of futility; and there shall be a bridle in the jaws of the people, causing them to err. (Isaiah 30:27-28)

“And those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them [the two witnesses], make merry, and send gifts to one another …” (Revelation 11:10)

Annapolis, MD - Day is now dawning over the giant, still-sleeping land of America, but I wish with all my heart that the quiet of this night would stay, and not so soon be gone.

Today is November 27, 2007. It is a date to mark down. A date whose recollection will cause knees to tremble and bowels to turn to water. A terrible, irreversible date. For the United States, there will not again in history be another like it.

Today Pilate and Herod will become friends.

Today, the leaders of America will deliberately and purposefully cast the die whose decision will so grievously imperil once again the existence of that so-long-hated nation whose people are called Jews and who together are called Israel.

Basking in the spotlight of their achievement, applauded - despite their deep loathing of the US - by the nations of this world, the United States was last night already savoring a sense of success, and congratulations were resounding in the corridors of the White House and the hallways of the State Department.

Like those warning, Californian wildfires, that applause will be leaping from embassy to embassy across Washington DC as the nearly 50 nations whose representatives have come to witness and put their seals of approval upon its outcome praise themselves for what they have done.

Arab and Islamic leaders whose deepest religious beliefs command them to hate Israel and whose driving conviction is that the fate of the Jewish people is divinely assured will embrace one another at the achievement of this milestone and sing the praises of Allah.

They will be rejoicing in this important advance along the road, not only towards the demise of Israel, but also towards the succumbing of the “Great Satan” to their will.

Israel’s blood they have already tasted. America’s they smell.

European and other western nations - so long secretly wishing (except when they let it slip) that they could see the back of trouble-making Israel; resenting the United States for controlling and limiting their roles in the process; and aware of the decades-long “Palestinian” plea that they play a greater role - will be jubilating with the words: “Now we’re in.

“The dollar’s in a tail spin, Bush’s star has died, allies Blair and Howard are no longer at his side…”

Today, November 27, 2007, the world will stretch little Israel out for dismemberment on the chopping block of Annapolis.

They will stretch Israel out, and smiling (not even secretly) at one another, will mark off the pieces they intend to tear away.

By the time the sun sets again, all those who hate Zion will believe that they have scored against her.

If only they knew; if only all those Americans who, watching the television news amid proud feelings of the pivotal part their country played in bringing all of this to pass - if only they knew.

It was not George W. Bush or Condoleezza Rice who invited the nations to Annapolis.

It was God. He is causing them to err.

If they knew, then instead of pride they would be trembling for fear of what will soon come upon them.

The nations have shown their determination to divide up His land, and it is God Himself who has brought them together, including the United States.

Today they’re in Maryland, on the shores of Chesapeake Bay. But they’re en route to a valley.

God has a day of vengeance for the controversy of Zion. (Isaiah 34:8)

“For the day of the LORD upon all the nations is near; as you have done , it shall be done to you; your reprisal shall return upon your own head…” (Obadiah 15-16)

I will also gather all nations, and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; and I will enter into judgment with them there on account of My people, My heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations; they have also divided up My land. (Joel 3:2)
