Celebrating Christmas on December 25th

I realize there is a huge controversy, especially of late (gee, I wonder where THIS came from??!!!), about Christmas being celebrated at all, or at least about it being celebrated on December 25th each year.  Yes, folks, I KNOW December 25th was a day set aside in the past to worship false gods.  And yes, I realize Yahshua wasn't born during the winter, because it would have been too cold for the shepherds to be in the fields watching over their sheep, and because of the timing of the census that year.  There IS a Scripture about not decorating trees as the pagans did/do:

“For the prescribed customs of these peoples are worthless, for one cuts a tree from the forest, work for the hands of a craftsman with a cutting tool. They adorn it with silver and gold, they fasten it with nails and hammers so that it does not topple." (Jeremiah 10:3-4)

And I, personally, have a HUGE problem with Santa Claus, who is elevated to the status and holiness of our Messiah.

But I also know the Bible tells us not to judge our brother or sister for what they choose to celebrate:

One person regards one day above another, another regards every day alike Each person must be fully convinced in his own mind. He who observes the day, observes it for the Lord, and he who eats, does so for the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who eats not, for the Lord he does not eat, and gives thanks to God. (Romans 14:5-6)

My family and I have always celebrated December 25th as the birth of the King of kings and Lord of lords, our Messiah, Yahshua, the Son of the Living Elohim.  Whether you choose to celebrate it or not should be only between you and your spouse, and between you and Father Yahweh... no one else.  Be blessed and enjoy the season!

Love to you all in Him!

Peggy
