In Search of the Crimson Worm
Hi Pastor Riley:
I just received this from a friend of mine...what do you think?
This might be one of the most intriguing emails that I have sent you to date. It concerns the efforts of the Temple Institute people in Israel to prepare the way for the Third Temple. They have not only prepared the sacred gold utensils for the sacrifices but are now preparing the Priestly garments. They need a particular color of red to make the belt for the High Priest, the scarlet wool attached to the scapegoat during Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, when the sins of the people are blotted out, and for the ashes of the red heifer needed for purification. They are looking for a particular crimson worm. Before you say, 'who cares this is Old Testament legalism', wait a minute. Isn't Jesus called the scarlet or crimson thread? And if you still don't get it, read Psalm 22, the Psalm of the Cross. In Psalm 22:1, Jesus utters "My God, my God, why has Thou forsaken me?" Then in verse 6, He says "But I am a worm not a man, a reproach of men and despised by the people." These Jews care searching for Jesus but do not know it! http://www.templeinstitute.org/tola-at_shani.htm
I have preached on this many times over the years. Many years ago I did a "word study" on worms in the Bible. Whether men like it or not, man by his depraved sin nature is symbolized in God's Word as a "rimmah;" a maggot. But the Lord Himself is symbolized as a "tola;" a crimson grub.
In ancient times the crimson grub, a very rare worm, was actually kept, bred, and cultivated by the Jews as well as some other nations. When several thousand of these crimson grubs were mature; fully grown, then they were crushed to death. Out of the crushed bodies of those crimson grubs would flow a deep red blood, which was used for a dye. When cloth or clothes were washed in this dye, they would be dyed a beautiful crimson red. This lovely color never faded, and could never be washed out or removed.
If you do a "word study" on worms in the Bible [it doesn't take long, for worms are not mentioned that many times in Scripture], you will notice a definite "play on words" in connection with worms. Job said in Job 7:5, "My flesh is clothed with worms [rimmah; maggots]....." In Job 25:6 both words are used, "How much less man, that is a worm [rimmah; maggot]? and the Son of man, which is a worm [tola; crimson grub]? Then in Psalm 22:6, the Lord declared of Himself, "But I am a worm [tola; crimson grub], and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people."
While men by their very depraved sin nature are symbolized as "maggots" in the Scriptures, the Lord Jesus Christ is symbolized as the rare "crimson grub" whose body was crushed for us on Calvary's cross, Genesis 3:15. When we then receive Him as our Savior, we are washed from our sin in the precious blood that flowed from His body. His blood dyes our very soul a beautiful red that never fades and can never be removed. Read 1 John 5:8, 2 Timothy 2:19, and Exodus 12:13. Glory to God! Praise the Lord!
Dear brother, I am saved with an "everlasting salvation," John 3:16; 5:24; 10:26-28; 1 John 5:13. I don't care what others think. I am not serving a "Once saved, maybe saved!" Jesus. I am serving a "Once saved, forever saved!" Jesus. If your Lord Jesus Christ can't save you eternally, then you are serving the wrong Jesus, 2 Corinthians 11:3-4.
Brother, you asked me what I think? I am well aware of the preparations the religious Jews have been making for some twenty years or more to rebuild their Temple and reinstitute the priesthood and the sacrifices and offerings. I received an email several months ago that reported that the crimson grub had been located, and enough of them were being brought to Israel to begin a breeding program in preparation of making the dye necessary for the garments of the priests. My understanding is that these crimson grubs breed prolifically. If that is so, then it won't take long to have enough of them to make the dye needed for the priestly garments.
All these reports clearly indicate that we are at the very end of the end of this present dispensation, and our Lord is coming at any minute to take all true New Testament believers home to glory. Once that occurs, the Jewish Temple will speedily be rebuilt and the priesthood reinstituted and the daily sacrifice will begin. The rest is clearly laid out in Daniel and the rest of the prophetic Word. Glory to God! God's people are soon going "home." Praise the Lord!
God bless you dear brother. I'll meet you soon at the "great reunion" in glory. Pray for me.
