Below is an excerpt from the 6/5/04 Cutting Edge Newsletter. [The occult viewpoint of today's event!]
As the planet, Venus, draws closer to an extremely rare transit between Earth and the Sun on June 8, New Agers and occultists are getting very excited!
NEWS BRIEF: "Transit Headquarters: Venus Crosses the Sun June 8", by Robert Roy Britt, Space.com, 18 May 2004
"On June 8, Venus will cross in front of the Sun for the first time since 1882, and backyard skywatchers can see the spectacle . The best view will be from Europe, but parts of America and most of Asia and Africa can witness the historic passage, weather permitting. Earth, Venus and the Sun will all be in a direct line in space. Venus will make contact with the outer portion of the Sun early in the morning in Europe (and before dawn U.S. time). It will appear as a small black spot about 1/32 the diameter of the Sun. One of the curious aspects, called the "black drop," will occur just as Venus gets fully in front of the Sun's disk at ingress, and again just before it egresses about six hours later from the other side. Venus' black disk will appear to remain linked to the edge of the Sun for a moment, stretching into an apparent pear shape. There are two causes for the black drop: The Sun is less bright at its visible edge, and there is a natural blurring effect in telescopes."
These are the scientific facts. Since the last time this transit occurred was in 1882, this transit is truly a once-in-a-lifetime event. However, as celestial events go, this transit is just a rather mild occurrence. But, occultists views this transit far differently because they are pagans in the true sense of the Biblical definition, i.e., they "worship the creation rather than the Creator" (Romans 1:25]
Today's occultists view this transit as a harbinger of great world events about to explode. Listen:

The ancient Mayans developed a calendar system that is very relevant to these times. It can be seen as a cosmic timing code ... The planet Venus is rich in archetypal symbolism. It is often known as the Morning Star, the Bringer of Light. It is related to love, human unity, beauty, and oneness. On June 8, 2004, the path of Venus directly crosses over the disc of the Sun, an eclipse lasting for the space of seven hours. The energies of Sun and Venus blend together, and as these blended radiations make their way into the Earth’s electromagnetic fields, it weaves the energies of love and unity into the mass consciousness of the planet, and potentially into the hearts of every man, woman, and child alive on Earth!"
This "Golden Age" to which this New Age author is referring is none other than the planned 1,000-year reign of the coming New Age Christ, whom the Bible calls Antichrist. After cleansing the earth of all its "impurities" for seven years, this Christ will then take the world into this 1,000-year reign, where mankind is supposed to live in peace and harmony with each other and with Mother Gaia (Mother Earth). This is the New Age belief.
But, what about this seven-year cleansing of which authors like Peter Lemesurier speak? This article speaks to this issue as well.
"The transition into Unity consciousness could be turbulent. As old structures of human consciousness collapse, it may be accompanied by a degree of darkness and destruction ... This current 'doorway of Venus' is especially significant because it remains open until 2012 AD, the completion of our current cycle of human evolution. Some refer to this date as the end of linear time, or as the end of a period of human consciousness conditioned by separation and duality. The Mayans refer to this time as the Return of Quetzalcoatl, the Plumed Serpent, and look to this eight-year doorway as the timeframe within which the mass enlightenment of humanity will take place." [Ibid.]
This period of destruction and darkness referred to above, is definitely the time The New Age Christ will cleanse the earth so the new Golden Age can begin; the Bible calls this period the 7-Year Tribulation. If you have any doubts that this New Age author was referring to Antichrist, that doubt should be cleansed away when you re-read this one sentence, above. Listen to one sentence again:

Dr. Cathy Burns tells us about Quetzalcoatl: "Then there's the winged serpent (or uraeus), a symbol of royalty. Quetzalcoatl, an Indian god, was portrayed as a plumed, feathered, or winged serpent. The serpent was a wisdom symbol, and when it plumed, it meant that wisdom had been given wings and had become spirit-wisdom, or illumination." Quetzalcoatl is Antichrist in the Mayan religious system.

"At the end of April, 2004, we had an eclipse of the moon, which caused it to turn blood red, and this was followed by two comets. According to old Roman occultism, the appearing of a comet means the death of a leader is imminent. On June 8th, something is to happen that has never been seen before. The planet Venus will come directly between the sun and the earth causing a cosmic eclipse. In witchcraft and the occult, it means that the shadow of Venus, the 'mother goddess', will be cast upon the earth. This is the mother and child reunion that the witches have been waiting for in the age of Aquarius. Witches everywhere will be going berserk with spell-casting and celebrating."
Will any worldwide calamity result from the Venus transit? We cannot know for certain; however, almost every single prophecy required to be fulfilled prior to the appearance of Antichrist and the establishment of his kingdom, is either already fulfilled, or has set the stage for fulfillment. Jesus told us how we are to approach the End of the Age when we see the general stage being set.
