  The Russians insist this is just a normal commercial organisation going about its business of selling energy supplies to make money. But critics see this partly state-owned group as a sinister instrument of the Kremlin's attempts to use energy as a tool of foreign policy.

• Jesus Tomb Film Scholars Backtrack <- FEATURE!!!
  Several prominent scholars who were interviewed in a bitterly contested documentary that suggests that Jesus and his family members were buried in a nondescript ancient Jerusalem burial cave have now revised their conclusions, including the statistician who claimed that the odds were 600:1 in favor of the tomb being the family burial cave of Jesus of Nazareth, a new study on the fallout from the popular documentary shows.

• China's Contaminated Food Woes Expand Overseas <- FEATURE!!!
  The list of Chinese food exports rejected at American ports reads like a chef's nightmare: pesticide-laden pea pods, drug-laced catfish, filthy plums and crawfish contaminated with salmonella. Yet, it took a much more obscure item, contaminated wheat gluten, to focus U.S. public attention on a very real and frightening fact: China's chronic food safety woes are now an international concern.

• Mexico moves to legalise euthanasia
  Mexico's Senate began discussing the legalisation of euthanasia on Thursday, adding to a spate of liberal moves in the country that includes the sanctioning of gay civil unions and abortion.

• 'Pagan morality' on way to becoming law <- FEATURE!!!
  In the House Rules Committee, an amendment was offered that would have provided an exemption for Christian churches and Christian groups in the proposal to grant broad new powers to the homosexual community by designating them as members of a protected minority class.

  Imagine a day when the only item you'll need to take to the supermarket to complete a transaction is your index finger. The concept is a reality in a limited capacity in some places but observers believe the technology could become mainstream by 2012.

• States Look At Microchipping Employees <- FEATURE!!!
  A Georgia legislative committee recommended in February that the state ban employers from implanting microchips in their workers' arms to track their whereabouts, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. You'd think it might go without saying that such conduct would be a no-no for employers. Yet Georgia is not the first state seeking to get in front of the issue, fearing potential abuse of the rapidly emerging technology.

• Quake measuring 6.0 shakes Mexico <- FEATURE!!!

Natural Disasters -

• Wildfires Erupt in Los Angeles
  Fires erupted in the hills above Los Angeles Thursday, damaging or destroying several homes as dangerous north winds swept dry southern California. Farther inland, a blinding sandstorm triggered a deadly highway pileup. Wind speeds of more than 50 mph propelled the blaze in grass near expensive mountainside homes above the city of Beverly Hills, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Ron Myers said.

Plagues -

• Bovine TB 'spreads in humans' <- FEATURE!!!
  Bovine TB can spread from animals to humans and from human to human, scientists fear after a cluster of six cases, one fatal, in England. All had visited the same Birmingham bar or nightclub, yet only one of the young patients had been in contact with infected unpasteurised milk or cattle.

• CDC reports E. coli cases are on the rise in leafy greens <- FEATURE!!!
  The deadly strain of E. coli responsible for hundreds of illnesses and at least three deaths last year was a leading culprit in the government's annual report on foodborne illnesses.

• CDC Says Gonorrhea has become a Super Bug and Is now Drug-Resistant <- FEATURE!!!
  The sexually transmitted disease gonorrhea is now among the "superbugs" resistant to common antibiotics, leading U.S. health officials to recommend wider use of a different class of drugs to avert a public health crisis.

• Flu vaccine grown in caterpillar cells is it safe? <- FEATURE!!!
  It is grown in a batch of cells taken from the fall armyworm, a kind of caterpillar. "The company has actually taken those cells and further fooled around with them to make them better for making vaccines," Treanor said.

• UK beekeepers fear mystery illness
  Government inspectors are investigating reports of unusually high numbers of honey bee deaths.

  Meir Shamgar, the former chief justice of Israel’s Supreme Court, quoted this verse during a conference on Jerusalem to illustrate that, 3,800 years after Jacob’s dream, Jews and Arabs still revere the Holy City.

  Despite his scientific beliefs, he says it is impossible to rule out the existence of a greater being, and he admires people with strong religious beliefs.

• Families warned, Disney to allow homosexual 'weddings'
  The Walt Disney Company recently announced it was making wedding ceremonies at its parks and on its cruise lines available to homosexual couples. For years, The Walt Disney Company had limited its "Fairy Tale Wedding" program to couples with valid marriage licenses. But a Disney spokesman says that policy was changed after a homosexual couple contacted the company, wanting to use its wedding service.

• Large Tsunami like Waves Batter El Salvador, Mexico <- FEATURE!!!
  THE TSUNAMI LIKE WAVES topping 10 feet swept away a dozen swimmers near La Libertad on Monday, 10 of whom were plucked from the water by boats and a helicopter, Green Cross emergency worker Jose Larin said. A 35-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy were killed.
