  The number of anti-Semitic acts around the world, especially in Europe, registered a large increase during 2006. The number of physical attacks against Jews, including children and adolescents, doubled compared to 2005.

• Iran-Venezuela Cooperation Headquarters To Be Established
  According to the approval of cabinet, Iran-Venezuela cooperation headquarters will soon be established.

• Iran 'is seeking N Korea's nuclear expertise'

• Syria threatens violence over Arab plan
  Syrian Information Minister Mohsen Bilal threatened on Monday evening to return the Golan Heights to Syrian hands "by way of resistance if Israel[rejects] the Arab peace initiative." Bilal did not elaborate, but some analysts raised the possibility of either a full scale conventional war or a terror campaign in the Golan as one of the means to undertake a mukawama ("resistance" in Arabic).

• Olmert, Abbas hold talks at U.S. behest
  Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas launched a U.S.-initiated series of meetings on Sunday, bypassing some of the most contentious issues of the Middle East conflict.

• Olmert says ready for talks based on Saudi plan <- FEATURE!!!
  Israel said on Monday it was ready to start talks based on a Saudi Arabian land-for-peace initiative but made clear it wanted Riyadh and other Arab League members with no formal ties to the Jewish state to take part.

  "We determined there was a much bigger problem with muriatic acid spread out all over the park," Leander Fire Lt. Chris Heisler said. "Here in a playground, having that out here, it's obvious someone had inappropriate intentions."

• Child burned with acid on Maryland playground
  A 2-year-old boy was critically burned Saturday after someone broke into an elementary school, stole several bottles of industrial-strength drain cleaner and splashed it all over the school's playground equipment, authorities said.

• 5 Japanese die in Suicide Pact
  A record 91 people killed themselves in 34 Internet-linked suicide pacts in 2005, almost triple the number in 2003, when the National Police Agency started compiling statistics.

• Police identify Cho Seung-Hui as the Shooter
  Adam Geller / The Associated Press: A Virginia Tech senior from South Korea killed at least 30 people locked inside a classroom building in the deadliest shooting rampage in modern U.S. history, the university and police said Tuesday.

• Witness survives by pretending to be dead
  A gunman who killed at least 30 people in one of two shootings on the campus of Virginia Tech Monday was dressed "almost like a Boy Scout," said a student who survived by pretending to lie dead on a classroom floor.
