• World scientists unite to attack creationism
  The world's scientific community united yesterday to launch one of the strongest attacks yet on creationism, warning that the origins of life were being "concealed, denied or confused". The national science academies of 67 countries warned parents and teachers to ensure that they did not undermine the teaching of evolution or allow children to be taught that the world was created in six days.

  The southern section of the fault, which crosses through Palm Springs and San Bernardino, has not experienced a major earthquake in at least 300 years, according to Yuri Fialko of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California, San Diego. As a result, the fault has been stressed to a level where it could unleash an earthquake with a magnitude of seven or greater.  

• Southern San Andreas fault waiting to explode: report
  The southern end of the San Andreas fault near Los Angeles, which has been still for more than two centuries, is under immense stress and could produce a massive earthquake at any moment, a scientist said on Wednesday. <- FEATURE!

• Waves From Storm Batter Central America
  Big waves generated by a storm 2,000 miles away battered a long stretch of the Pacific coast, wrecking homes, hotels and restaurants from Peru to Central America, civil defense officials said Tuesday.

• HIV Outbreak in China, Study Says
  The study by the Washington-based Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) disclosed that HIV-positive persons are present in all 31 provinces and municipalities of China, the world’s most populous nation.  

• WHO: Bird flu likely spread among family members in Indonesian cluster
  The World Health Organization concluded that human-to-human transmission likely occurred among seven relatives who died from bird flu on Indonesia's Sumatra Island, while an animal health expert said the disease was more widespread in poultry than previously thought. • North Korea Seeks Talks With U.S. Over Missile
  North Korea said Wednesday it wants direct talks with the United States over its apparent plans to test-fire a long-range missile, a day after the country issued a bristling statement in which it declared its right to carry out the launch.

• Aksa Brigades Declare War On Sderot
  Three Palestinian children were killed Tuesday night during a botched IAF missile strike on a car driving in the crowded Jabalya refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip. An additional 13 Palestinians were wounded in the missile strike, which the IDF said had targeted an Aksa Martyrs Brigades terror cell.  

• Convergence Plan: Fatah and Hamas Agree on Destroying Israel
  Short of civil war, Fatah and Hamas negotiators are finding a common denominator in an effort to set up a national unity government in the Palestinian Authority. The formula: hatred of Israel.
