  A moderate earthquake rocked Mexico's Pacific coast early on Saturday close to the popular beach resort of Huatulco and was felt as far away as Mexico City, but no damage was reported.

• Powerful Quake (6.9) Hits Near Antarctica
  A powerful earthquake struck Sunday in the Scotia Sea between South America and Antarctica, Japanese and U.S. officials said.

• Russian island hit by Earthquake
  A STRONG earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale shook the Russian island of Sakhalin north of Japan early today, the local seismological centre reported.

• Bird flu: virus from China strikes Thailand, Laos
  This is the outcome of FAO testing. Beijing dismissed the news as “groundless” but did not deny an illegal poultry trade between the countries. There were more infections and death in Indonesia.

• Encephalitis B Kills 186 in China
  Xinhua did not give details of the seven deaths in Shaanxi but said 186 people had died since January from Encephalitis B.

• Farm Animal Virus hits Dutch farms
  It is the first time the insect-borne virus, which is normally found in Mediterranean regions, has been discovered in northern Europe.

• High Bacteria levels Hit N.H., Maine Coast
  This summer has seen a record number of warnings about bacteria at coastal beaches in New Hampshire and Maine. "The record was maybe three postings in a year. This year, we've already had six postings," said Jody Connor of the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services. • Indonesian Woman Dies of Bird Flu
