Feast of First Fruits

April 27, 2008

But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep. For since by a man {came} death, by a man also {came} the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive. But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, after that those who are Christ's at His coming, then {comes} the end, when He hands over the kingdom to the God and Father, when He has abolished all rule and all authority and power. (1 Corinthians 15:20-24)

The Feast of First Fruits (Jack Kelley)
But the tomb was empty. He had risen, the First Fruits of them that slept. (1 Cor. 15:20) Later that day many Holy people from Israel's past were seen in the city of Jerusalem, also having risen from their tombs. (Matt. 27:53) This was the Lord's wave offering, a sample of His harvest of souls. I'm thinking that the aroma of the Temple offering was especially pleasing to the Lord that morning. The days of substitutes were over; the real thing had come. (Hebr. 10:1)

First Fruits - Occurs on the 17th of Nisan - a number of other events of redemptive nature took place on that date...

The Spiritual Significance of the Feast of First Fruits (Dr. Lee Warren)
These three feast days were connected with planting and harvesting crops that could not be done until Israel reached the Promised Land. Israel did not become farmers until they reached Canaan. During their 40 years in the Wilderness, Israel was nomadic and their diet consisted primarily of manna and quail, which Yahweh provided (Exo. 16th Chapter). When Israel got to the Promised Land, they began to eat from the fruits of the land (Jos. 5:11-12).

The Festival of First Fruits (Eddie Chumney)
Yeshua is indeed the Most Holy One of G-d and is sanctified by the Father. Yeshua is the first, the choicest, the preeminent One. He is both the firstborn of G-d and the first fruits unto G-d. Yeshua is the sheaf of the first fruits.
