Food scarcity, growing global hunger

 Jer 16:4 -

They shall die of grievous deaths; they shall not be lamented; neither shall they be buried; but they shall be as dung upon the face of the earth: and they shall be consumed by the sword, and by famine; and their carcases shall be meat for the fowls of heaven, and for the beasts of the earth.

In Bangladesh it is not uncommon for households to spend 70 percent of their income on food. Scarcity and escalating prices have left people with no choice but to wait in line for hours just to obtain a bag of rice. Officials from the interim government are hoping to ease the food crisis by importing a large quantity of rice from India to be sold below cost. (Lalage Snow, AFP, Getty)
