God's Promises & Answers for Your Life
Chapter 9
Jesus Is Your Example
For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps...
1 Peter 2:21
...the one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked.
1 John 2:6
"If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. "For I gave you an example that you also should do as I did to you.
John 13:14-15
Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
Philippians 2:5-8
"But it is not this way among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant; and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be slave of all. "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many."
Mark 10:43-45
"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
John 13:34
We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
1 John 3:16
Now may the God who gives perseverance and encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus, so that with one accord you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, accept one another, just as Christ also accepted us to the glory of God.
Romans 15:5-7
...fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
Hebrews 12:2-3
