God's Promises & Answers for Your Life

Chapter 102

How To Overcome Despair

For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for a lifetime; weeping may last for the night, but a shout of joy comes in the morning.  To You, O LORD, I called, and to the Lord I made supplication: "What profit is there in my blood, if I go down to the pit?  Will the dust praise You? Will it declare Your faithfulness?  "Hear, O LORD, and be gracious to me; O LORD, be my helper."  You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have loosed my sackcloth and girded me with gladness, that my soul may sing praise to You and not be silent.  O LORD my God, I will give thanks to You forever.

Psalm 30:5, 8-12

"Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.

Matthew 11:28

...we are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day.  For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

2 Corinthians 4:8

Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, "I WILL NEVER DESERT YOU, NOR WILL I EVER FORSAKE YOU," so that we confidently say, "THE LORD IS MY HELPER, I WILL NOT BE AFRAID.  WHAT WILL MAN DO TO ME?"

Hebrews 13:5

This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil...

Hebrews 6:19
