Not-Your-Average-Granny Scarf

NOTE FROM PEGGY:
Original pattern calls for each motif to consist of four different colors; I have changed that to use variegated yarn, where you don't need to change colors at the end of each row.
GAUGE:
1 Granny Square = 6 in. (15 cm) square. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.STITCH EXPLANATION:
| Popcorn: | Work 5 dc in indicated st, remove hook from loop, insert hook into first dc of 5-dc group, then back into loop of 5th dc and draw loop through. |
