For thicker towels, I use a yarn needle to create a hole to crochet into. That way no fibers are broken.
Directions:
Cut kitchen towel or hand towel, and put Fray Check(tm) on cut edge (for strength as well). Or use finger tip towels and fold over top edge 1½".

Sc across top edge of towel. Ch 3, turn. |

* Dc 2 sts tog (dec made). Repeat from * across. Ch 3 turn. |

Dc in each st across. Ch 3 turn. |
| Row 5: |
Dc 2 sts tog (dec made). Dc in each st across to last two. Dc 2 sts tog. Ch 3 turn. |
| Rows 6-11: |
Work even in dc. Ch 3, turn. For row 11, ch 4, turn. |
| Row 12: |
Tr in each st across. Ch 1 turn. |
| Row 13: |
Work sc dec over next 2 sts, sc in each st across to last two. Work dec. Finish off. |
