It's a mad, mad, mad world
by Mike Mickey (1/5/05)

Isaiah 13:9-11: Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it. For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine. And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.

Is it hard for you to imagine Jesus Christ will soon return to the earth to punish the world for its evil, given the things going on in our world today? It certainly isn't hard for me to, in light of what the Scriptures teach. This world is in a mess and it isn't --- I repeat ISN'T --- going to get even a little bit better until Jesus Christ returns. Why? Because our world is awash in sin and satanic deception to the extent it can not recover! Of that I am highly confident!

Would you like to see a few examples of what I'm referring to? Of course you would! If not, you'd be reading a website other than this one - one that would tickle your ears with hope mankind, as opposed to God, has all the answers to the world's problems, painting a rosy (but deceptive) picture for you.

Let's have a look at some current issues in our mad, mad world.....

We can't even trust Barney or Bob the Builder?

What do SpongeBob SquarePants, Barney the Dinosaur, Arthur, Dora the Explorer, JoJo, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Big Bird, and Bob the Builder all have in common? They all, according to an American Family Association article, appear in a video a pro-family group is accusing homosexual activists of using to indoctrinate young children into their lifestyle.

Ed Vitagliano, a researcher for the American Family Association, is quoted in the article as saying he believes the video, entitled 'We Are Family', is an "open door" to a secondary discussion of homosexuality. Vitagliano is quoted as saying the following in the article:

"When you go to the We Are Family Foundation website, there is a 'tolerance pledge' that children and others are encouraged to sign, which includes sexual orientation."

"While we want everyone to respect other people's beliefs, we do not consider it appropriate for children's television to be used in an effort to indoctrinate children to accept homosexuality."

The video, which Vitagliano says serves as a "bait-and-switch" device designed to get children to look at the We Are Family Foundation website where he alleges "they're given the full pitch about homosexuality", is scheduled to air simultaneously on Nickelodeon, PBS, and the Disney Channel in March 2005, according to the article.

While I'm personally all for children (and everyone else for that matter) being acceptive of people who hold different values than their own, I, as a Christian who recognizes the Bible unequivocally condemns the practice of homosexual relationships, am not in favor of children being desensitized to an activity God has forbidden to be practiced.

Contrary to what Satan would have us to believe, we can still love people without supporting their disobedience to Almighty God by signing a 'tolerance pledge'!

I once knew a wonderful man everyone loved who was an alcoholic. He sinned against God by being a drunkard, but he was loved by many! No one who knew him signed a tolerance pledge. In fact, his excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages was utterly and openly condemned by his entire family and many of his friends, all of whom loved and accepted him! They didn't love his alcoholism, but they wholly loved him! Amazing, huh?

If you're reading this and you're a practicing homosexual, you can be sure the Christian community and God loves you, but neither God nor the Bible-believing Church is ever going to say it's okay for you to disregard the Father's will by continuing to practice the sexual lifestyle you're leading. We can't do so, if we wish to honor our Heavenly Father and His will for your life.

Christians caused the Asian tsunamis?

According to Brit Humes' Political Grapevine, a Muslim cleric on Saudi television recently insisted he knows what caused the deadly tsunamis in South Asia — Christians.

The article quotes Saudi Cleric Muhammed Al-Manajjid as saying, "[Christmas and other Christian holidays] are accompanied by forbidden things, by immorality, abomination, adultery, alcohol, drunken dancing ... and revelry. ... [So] At the height of immorality, Allah took vengeance on these criminals."

Brit Humes made a very good point, in response to these comments: Al-Manajjid did not explain why Allah's vengeance was taken on largely non-Christian nations.

Clearly, Al-Manajjid's theory wouldn't explain why Iran - a Muslim nation - was struck by an earthquake on 12-26-03, precisely one year earlier, which left 26,000 dead and the city of Bam in ruins, as documented in a WorldNetDaily story.

I wonder where all the politically correct people are when a comment like this is made by a Muslim religious leader, alleging Christians to be criminals. Although I'm not sure where they are, we could find them very quickly. All that would be required to get them up in arms would be for Billy Graham (or any other Christian leader for that matter) to say something even remotely similar concerning Muslims. It would be front page news around the globe!

I wonder if Barney the Dinosaur and SpongeBob would be willing to run over to Saudi Arabia and ask Al-Manajjid to support and sign a 'tolerance pledge' to prevent this sort of thing from happening in the future? Somehow I doubt it.

A record number of tornadoes in 2004!

Not only were there more tornadoes recorded in 2004 than ever before, the previous record was broken by 130 --- by September, according to a Yahoo News story.

As is typical of this type of report, which I'm sure is somewhat true, the record-breaking number of tornadoes reported in 2004 is being attributed to better reporting systems being utilized.

Regardless of improvements in weather detection, a clear pattern of more violent and bizarre weather seems to be emerging, at least in my opinion, perhaps a sign of the world's environment being in crisis, which there seems to be significant evidence of.

If a new record for tornadoes is set in 2005, I wonder if the experts will minimize the impact news like that would have on mankind's opinion of the state of our world in a similar news report in 2006, hailing, once again, advancements in technology as the cause of the higher numbers?

As I stated earlier, I believe it's entirely possible technology is somewhat aiding the record-breaking number of tornadoes being recorded, but I don't discount, not even for a second, the possibility the powers of darkness are attempting to veil any noteworthy developments of this nature from sinking into the collective mind of mankind. Why? Because mankind would have to question why the numbers are increasing, if they actually are, potentially causing some to wonder if God's displeasure with the world is beginning to be revealed through these increases in violent weather phenomena.

When does man tend to turn toward God in repentance? As we saw in the aftermath of September 11th, it's when mankind is forced out of its comfort zone and begins to feel threatened by something it fears it can not possibly control. If we know this, we can be sure Satan knows it as well --- and is using it against us.

Is it just me or are UFOs becoming a hot topic again?

India Daily is reporting an enormous number of UFO sightings were recorded before the 12-26-04 earthquake and tsunamis struck Asia. In connection with the sightings, the report poses the following question: Were they trying to warn us?

The article states the following, concerning the number of UFO sightings in Asia:

India especially in the Himalayas, China, Indonesia were experiencing heavy UFO sightings in recent days. Remote areas of Bangladesh, Mayanmar, and Andaman Island, Sri Lanka have also recently reported such sightings.

Although the article's grammar is somewhat lacking, perhaps because the author of the article needs to brush up on his English skills, I think there could be something to the content of his article. Why? Because an Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting article states Russia and Iran have agreed recently to conduct a bilateral study of UFO phenomena in the region.

I personally believe there is something significant to the UFO phenomena that has captured the imagination of mankind since 1947 when the Roswell, New Mexico incident took place, although I'm at a loss as to what it could be.

The Bible describes Satan as the prince of the power of the air in Ephesians 2:2 and tells us, in 2nd Thessalonians 2:1, God will allow a strong delusion to fall on mankind in the aftermath of the Rapture of the Church, that they [those who are left behind] should believe a lie.

I often see stories in the news which seem to fantasize there is a power of extraterrestrial origin that seeks to save mankind - through advanced technology. Because this would represent a form of salvation for collective mankind outside of mankind submitting itself to God through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ as Savior, I always consider the threat posed by UFOs to be genuine ---- spiritually at least.

Interestingly, along these lines, a different India Daily article states Tibetan monks see extraterrestrial powers saving the world from destroying itself in 2012.

An article I located on the worldwide web notes the Mayan Calendar stops on December 21, 2012. The author of the article describes the date using the following words:

For the ancient Maya, on the far-future Creation Day which for us arrives soon, First Mother and First Father join forces to engender a new World Age.

A different article I found on the worldwide web states the following concerning 2012, instead using December 23, 2012 as the date of an earth-altering event:

"......you might want to keep in mind that the Maya considered time to be arranged in cycles. Some believe that the completion of the 12th bak'tun will result in the destruction of our own time and the beginning of a new creation; in theory this could occur on December 23, 2012."

New Agers around the world believe, for various reasons, 2012 may mark the beginning of a new era in mankind's history, with many of them, as demonstrated above, suggesting we may be saved from destruction by extraterrestrials. While I don't believe there is even a remote chance these cultists could know anything of prophetic interest, I believe we can be sure the New Agers will be marketing their godless ideas and pointing toward UFOs in the skies around the world as a sign of a New Age dawning with increasing intensity as 2012 approaches, both a sign the end times are upon us, and, potentially, a basis for the great delusion Bible prophecy tells us will fall upon mankind in the aftermath of the Rapture of the Church to become a reality.

There is only one hope for the world - just one!

It's a mad, mad, mad world we're living in - one that has only one hope of redemption. What is that hope? Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ alone!

Matthew 13:49-50 tells us Jesus Christ will someday, upon His physical, visible, bodily return to the earth, send the angels forth to sever the wicked from among the just. The wicked, those who have rebelliously lived outside God's will, will be cast into the furnace of fire where there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Christ is coming again, both to Rapture His Church, judge the world, and cleanse it of all unrighteousness! When He returns (and it may not be long until He does), will you be welcomed into His arms or be cast into outer darkness? If you believe the latter would be true of you, today is the day of salvation! Tomorrow may be too late!

Jesus Christ loves you and He is coming again ---- and soon! Let there be no doubt!
