Livin' It Day by Day
by Richard McIlveene - 1980

Like a three-legged stool
on sale for half price
that nobody wants to buy
don't got me no lover
don't got me no wife
no I don't even got me an old dog

I’m just a-watchin' and a-waitin’
a-wishin’ and a-hopin’
dreamin’ my whole life away
I don’t get in no hurry
and I ain’t got no worries
I’m just-a livin’ it day by day

Like a five string guitar
or a broke down old car
I can’t seem to get anywhere
And if I put a label
to the cards on my table
I’d have me a pair of fools

I’m just a-watchin' and a-waitin’
a-wishin’ and a-hopin’
dreamin’ my whole life away
I don’t get in no hurry
and I ain’t got no worries
I’m just-a livin’ it day by day

Like a half finished song
that goes ramblin’ on
I don’t got me nothin’ to say
Like a book with no end
there ain’t no way I can win
but I can’t go on losin’ this way

I’m just a-watchin' and a-waitin’
a-wishin’ and a-hopin’
dreamin’ my whole life away
I don’t get in no hurry
and I ain’t got no worries
I’m just-a livin’ it day by day
I’m just a-livin’ it day by day

"For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? "Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? "And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?
