Living in the End Times? The Headlines Say So.

by Watch.org

Current events in the past three months would suggest that citizens of the world are living in the end times, although they may not know it. Just last weekend, for example, while most Americans were resting from a hard week at work by running their kids to sports, participating in community or recreational activities, attending church and debating whether the Oscars would be foul and vulgar, the march of prophecy stepped the world ever closer toward the end times. Evidenced by the headlines that likely went unnoticed by the casual observer, end-time world alliances tightened almost without a gasp from Friday through Sunday.

Here are just a few of the headlines: "Israel Blames Syria, Hezbollah For Suicide Bombing" … "Iran, Russia Sign Nuclear Deal" … "United Nations to Register Every Baby Born" … "bin Laden Urges al Zarqawi to Strike U.S." … "Lebanese Government Resigns, Pressures Syria" … "HIV Infection Rate Doubles Among Blacks" … "Iran Offered Nuclear Parts" … "Syrian Officer Claims He Trained Iraqi Terrorists" … "Russia, U.S. Minimize Differences" … "International Law Instructing American Courts" … "U.N. Meets On Iran Nuclear Threat."

Over 60 million people already have read the end-time thriller "Left Behind" series written by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins that follows several key characters through the rapture and the tribulation as promised in the New Testament book of Revelation. While the authors based their series on the Bible, it's nothing more than inspirational fiction. But what many do not realize as they struggle through their daily schedules is that we may well be living in the times just before the tribulation, the times that Jesus called in Matthew 24, "the beginning of sorrows."

Insider's Take: In Zechariah and Ezekiel there are prophecies that Russia and Iran will lead other nations against Israel. In Isaiah there are prophecies about the destruction of Damascus, Syria. Revelation speaks of a one world government. In Matthew, Jesus prophesies about the times when we hear of wars and rumors of wars, see pestilences, earthquakes and disasters. Jesus, speaking of the end times, said in Matthew 24:33 (NKJV), "So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near — at the doors!" While the "Left Behind" series was fiction, what you are living is real life. And the time is growing near. And as Jesus said in Matthew 24:44, "Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect."
