Love Letter to My Mom

Me & Mama, 2/3/07.  Click HERE to see full photo.

My Mom went with my Aunt Martha to a church retreat one weekend.  I wrote the theme poem for Aunt Martha to read to everyone, and "slipped in" this poem that I'd written for Mama and asked Aunt Martha to surprise her by reading it too.  Aunt Martha had Mama passing out the copies of the theme poem to everyone, then said she had a surprise, and called Mama up to the podium.  There she read the poem to her.  Mama said there wasn't a dry eye in the place, including hers.  I was so happy I had thought to write it!  Peggy.

My Mom & Dad adopted me
when I was 2 weeks old.
They chose me over all the babes;

that’s, at least, what I was told.

My Mom is really something,
she spoiled me to the hilt!
Of course the folks who know me,
knows that fills me full of guilt!
J

They raised me as a Christian,
before I even understood.
Now Jesus is my everything
that's right and just and good.

Because of them, I’ll always be
in His mansions up above.
And never more know the hurts of life,
for God is eternal love.
Thanks, Mom, for the joy of life
that you always gave to me.
It will be my greatest pleasure
to be with you eternally.

Your loving daughter, Peggy
