Palestinian leadership is acting very strangely in the period leading up to the beginning of Sharon's Unilateral Withdrawal

Instead of being delirious that they are finally going to get their "contiguous" Palestinian State, they are fighting the withdrawal with bullets, bombs and rockets. What is going on?

"Israel’s new chief of staff Lt. Gen. Dan Halutz followed a given script when he declared firmly Tuesday, June 7: “Evacuation will not take place under fire. I say exactly what I mean.”

"He was speaking to skeptical military correspondents outside Sderot, whose shocked citizens refuse to meet him after suffering waves of Qassam missile salvoes from the Gaza Strip throughout the day. The first three woke the town up before 7.a.m. and landed in an apartment, sending a woman and two children into shock. As the day wore on, the attacks across the border into Israel and inside the Gaza Strip intensified until a missile struck a work-team in Ganei Tal’s greenhouse. Three workers were killed, two Palestinians and a Chinese, 5 were seriously injured, most of them Palestinian. Mortar shells and sniper fire against IDF positions and civilians accompanied the missiles."

The Palestinians are acting in a way totally unfathomable to the average person who accepts Conventional Wisdom as the truth.

Yassir Arafat (NEWS1429) began directing bloody suicide bombings in 1981, ostensibly to achieve two major goals:

1) To create a Palestinian State from within Israel, with contiguous territory;

2) Use the resources of this new State to begin the war which would topple an already weakened Israel (NEWS1057).

After 23 years of violence and bloodshed, the Palestinian Authority under Arafat's successor, President Abbas, seems tremendously close to achieving Arafat's first goal. With a major assist from Prime Minister Sharon's Unilateral Disengagement policy, and another giant assist from President Bush last week as the two met in the White House, the Palestinians seem poised to receive their statehood.

You would expect them to be exultant! However, they are not only displeased with these events, they are fighting them tooth and nail. They are launching terrorist Qassam Rocket attacks on settlers preparing to be evacuated; Hizbullah attacks with mortar fire from the Lebanese border; and attempted suicide attacks continue to be foiled all across Israel.

Meanwhile, Israelis are getting extremely irked, saying that they will "not withdraw under fire" -- which means Sharon is giving the Palestinians 'defacto' capability of scuttling the unilateral withdrawal plan simply by continuing their attacks: if Sharon and his officials are serious about their statements, that is.

Why are the Palestinians acting this way? Why don't they simply hold off all attacks until Israel is fully withdrawn? Then, they could resume their campaign to achieve Arafat's #2 goal. It makes no sense that they are fighting a seemingly golden offer to hand them a Palestinian State on a silver platter.

Why are the Palestinians acting as though they really did not want Israel to withdraw, as though they really did not want a Palestinian State?

The reality is simple: While the Palestinian leadership certainly wants a Palestinian State carved from within tiny Israel, they do not want to see Sharon's plan implemented. You see, this Bush - Sharon offer of a Palestinian State contains a hidden iron fist. The Palestinians are going to receive an Israel withdrawal and a Palestinian State, complete with high security fences and a complete pulling back of all Jews currently living in Palestinian-dominated territory.

They are going to get statehood in a land in which 99.3% of the Palestinian population is separated from the Jewish population - a separation enforced by the high security fences. Leading Palestinian leaders know the Israeli plan -- to annihilate them all. What they do not know is that this annihilation will fulfill the ancient prophecy of Obadiah 15-18 (NEWS1422 and NEWS1620).

Furthermore, not only do current Palestinian leaders know this is their planned fate, but leading intellectuals know it, too. Listen to a public complaint by an Israeli college professor as he spoke out against Sharon's plan three full years ago. Quoting from NEWS1625:

"Let's start with Baruch Kimmering, a sociologist at Hebrew University. Here's what he sent to the Jerusalem Weekly Kol Ha'Ir last month, which duly published it: 'I accuse Ariel Sharon of creating a process in which he will not only intensify the reciprocal bloodshed, but is liable to instigate a regional war and partial or nearly complete ethnic cleansing of the Arabs in the Land of Israel. I accuse every Labor Party minister in this government of cooperating for implementation the right wing's extremist, fascist 'vision' for Israel'."

This Jewish professor undoubtedly has sources of information to which we are not privy here in America, nor to the average Jewish citizen. For him to publicly announce that the Israeli Sharon government is really pursuing a genocidal goal against the Palestinians is a shock almost too great to believe! After all, many people naively believe that no Jewish government could carry out genocide against another people, not after Hitler's horrific attempted genocide.

Yet, the prophecy of Obadiah 15-18 is moving toward fulfillment, as the "facts on the ground" clearly attest. Is this the reason Arafat built a concrete bunker far enough underground to withstand any hit other than a direct nuclear strike? Will the leadership of Hamas and of the Palestinian Authority be hunkered down inside that bunker when Israel fulfills this prophecy?

As horrific as this scenario seems, this is what is occurring. Cutting Edge takes no pleasure in reporting this to you. But, now you know why the Palestinian leadership is fighting Bush and Sharon so strenuously as they attempt to hand them a "Palestinian State".
