Revelation 8:10-11: And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.
An Australian government website confirms the existence of a joint U.S.-Australian project that bears the prophetic name of Wormwood. What is the purpose of Project Wormwood? Planetary defense.
From the website:
Planetary Defence is defined as that activity concerned with protecting the Earth and its inhabitants from destruction due to impact by a large piece of space debris such as an asteroid or a comet.
Want to see some photographic evidence of what can happen when an object from space strikes the earth? If so, you can visit Meteor Crater near Flagstaff Arizona if you're ever in the area. The crater caused by the meteor that struck there is 4,100 ft. in diameter and 570 ft. deep. I've been to this location myself and can tell you, based on my observations, it's no wonder the governments of the world are interested in planetary defense.
Clearly, as evidenced by the Wormwood Project's existence, the governments of the world fear an object from space will someday strike the earth and are desperately trying to find a way to prevent the cataclysmic destruction that would accompany such an event.
Can the governments of the world prevent a space object from striking the earth? Perhaps. Will the governments of the world find a way to prevent the space objects mentioned in Bible prophecy from striking the earth? Not a chance! Regardless of how much time, energy and money is spent, Project Wormwood will be remembered as a failure in the end. Why? Because an object bearing the project's name is going to hit the earth in fulfillment of Bible prophecy. Of that we can be sure.
