Original Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookies

2¼ cups all-purpose flour

1 t. baking soda

1 t. salt

1 cup (2 sticks) oleo, softened

¾ cup sugar

¾ cup firmly packed brown sugar

1 t. vanilla extract

2 eggs

One 12-oz. pkgs. (2 cups) Nestlé Toll

House semi-sweet chocolate morsels

1 cup chopped nuts


Preheat oven to 375º.  In small bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt; set aside.  In large mixer bowl, beat butter, sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract until creamy.  Beat in eggs.  Gradually beat in flour mixture.  Stir in Nestlé Toll House semi-sweet chocolate morsels and nuts.  Drop by rounded measuring tablespoons onto ungreased cookie sheets.  Bake 9-11 minutes until edges are golden brown.  Makes 5 dozen 2¼” cookies. Pan Cookies:  Spread dough in greased 15½ x 10½ x 1” baking pan.  Bake at 375ºF for 20-25 minutes.  Cool completely.  Cut into thirty-five 2” squares. Giant Toll House Cookies:  Prepare dough as directed.  Drop dough by ¼ cupfuls onto greased cookie sheets.  Press lightly into 3” circles.  Bake at 375ºF for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden brown.  Makes about twenty-five 4” cookies.
