cup sifted all-purpose flour

medium onion, chopped
Wash
fryer half; pat dry. Shake with mixture of 1/3 cup flour, 1½ t.
salt, and pepper. Brown pieces, a part at a time, in butter.
Place in single layer in roasting pan. Sauté onion until soft
in drippings; stir in 1½ cups water and remaining ½ t. salt.
Heat, stirring constantly, to boiling; pour over chicken; cover.
Bake at 350ºF for 1 hour or until chicken is tender.
