Oatmeal Cookies

½ cup shortening

¾ cups brown sugar

1 egg

¼ cup milk

7/8 cups sifted all-purpose flour

Dash soda

1 t. baking powder

½ t. salt

½ t. ground cinnamon

½ t. ground nutmeg

1½ cups quick-cooking rolled oats

½ cup raisins

Cream shortening, sugar and eggs together until light and fluffy.  Stir in milk.  Sift together dry ingredients; stir into creamed mixture.  Stir in oats and raisins.  Drop from tablespoon 2” apart on lightly greased cookie sheet.  Bake in 400º oven for about 8 minutes.  Cool slightly and remove from pan.  Makes about 2½ dozen cookies.
