Extreme weather becoming more stronger and frequent
MASSIVE floods, blistering heat waves and bizarre cold snaps since the start of the year may not be the result of climate change, but extreme weather has become more stronger and frequent, some scientists say.

New York City is cleaning up this morning after a massive weather system roared through Wednesday, dumping up to 3 inches of rain, paralyzing the mass transit system and spawning a tornado that touched down in Brooklyn. It's believed to be the first twister to hit Brooklyn since the late 1800s.

Climate of 2006. The 2006 average annual temps for the contiguous U.S. was the warmest on record and nearly identical to the record set in 1998. Seven months in 2006 were much warmer than average, including December, which ended as the fourth warmest December since records began in 1895.
