1 - WW3 begins? (Israeli artillery pieces in Kiryat Shmona, Israel, fire across the border into southern Lebanon)
2 - Prelude to Damascus? (Smoke rises from the headquarters of Hezbollah in the suburbs of Beirut, Lebanon, on July 16 after Israeli airstrikes. Israeli warplanes bombed a major power station south of Beirut that day as Lebanon reeled under five days of air and sea strikes that had killed more than 100 people, mostly civilians, and damaged much of the city's infrastructure.)

5A 5B 6 7 8 5A - Last Journey Home (When 2nd Lt. James Cathey's body arrived at the Reno Airport, Marines climbed into the cargo hold of the plane and draped the flag over his casket as passengers watched the family gather on the tarmac. During the arrival of another Marine's casket last year at Denver International Airport , Major Steve Beck described the scene as so powerful: "See the people in the windows? They sat right there in the plane, watching those Marines. You gotta wonder what's going through their minds, knowing that they're on the plane that brought him home," he said. "They will remember being on that plane for the rest of their lives. They're going to remember bringing that Marine home. And they should."
5B - Last Journey Home (The night before the burial of her husband's body, Katherine Cathey refused to leave the casket, asking to sleep next to his body for the last time. The Marines made a bed for her, tucking in the sheets below the flag. Before she fell asleep, she opened her laptop computer and played songs that reminded her of 'Cat,' and one of the Marines asked if she wanted them to continue standing watch as she slept. "I think it would be kind of nice if you kept doing it," she said. "I think that's what he would have wanted."

7 - African giants? (This Ivory carving portrays a giant from Africa with 6 fingers and 12 toes on each foot. This several-thousand-year-old artifact portrays a "White Male, horned, 24-foot tall Giant". According to local legend, these were male cannibals and had very cruel and demonic practices. Location — the "Ledo Kingdom of Africa". These giants were alive, according to the locals, up until 1,000 years ago. More amazing photos to follow--a lot of sceptics will be in for a Big Surprise!)

14 - on the big Island of Hawaii (Dramatic changes in the long-lived Pu`u `O`o - Kupaianaha have occurred in the past two months. The crater and west side of Pu`u `O`o collapsed, partially refilled with lava, then collapsed again as new vents erupted first uprift then downrift of the cone on June 19 and July 21. Lava is now erupting from the lower end of the July 21 fissure located at the base of the Kupaianaha shield, which was active between 1986 and 1992. The lava is feeding flows that are moving northeast from the vents across relatively flat ground. The flow is spreading slowly on the north side of the east rift zone, covering lava flows erupted from Pu`u `O`o between 1983 and 1986 and moving into patches of rainforest. It traveled nearly 6 km between July 27 and August 13 before stalling and starting another parallel flow. (U.S. Geological Survey /HVO))
