Taking God At His Word

For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12)

This is a very short article, but I feel it's something that needs to be said.

Why is it that people have to make studying God's word so difficult?  Why is it that they can't just take Him at His word when He says something?  When He says Yahshua will reign for a THOUSAND YEARS, He means exactly what He says.  If He just meant "a long time", He wouldn't have given specifics.

It's like my husband, Richard, says, "The Lord tells us that we are to have the faith of a little child.  What does He mean by that?  When you were a little girl, if your Daddy told you the sky was green, you would believe him, regardless.  Because you knew that your Daddy wouldn't lie to you, and that he always had your best interests at heart.  Why should it be any different with Father Yahweh?  If He says something is a certain way, we need to take Him at His word, not say 'well, He meant this when He said that' or 'He meant that when He said that'... He means what He says, for crying out loud!  I don't need anyone to tell me what He 'meant' when He said something... what's He says is WHAT HE MEANT!"  How right he is!

My God is not a God of confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33).  His word is not difficult to understand, especially if you ask Him to give you wisdom and understanding as you read it.  If what you glean from reading the Scriptures is confusing or disoriented, chances are you are trying to put you own spin on it.  Quit trying to use your own reasoning with His word, and read it with an open spiritual mind.

His word is given to us as a handbook on how to live our lives, on having a relationship with Him, on what to expect in the future.  If we follow His written plan for our lives, we can't go wrong.  He wants us to have victory through His Son.  He wants us to spend eternity with Him, reaping the benefits of having been an overcomer in this world.  Let go, and let God.  Love His word and love His discipline. If He didn't love you, He wouldn't correct you when you go astray.  I WANT Him to love me, and I want Him to be proud of me, because I love Him with every fiber of my human being.  He is the perfect Father.

Love to you in Him!
